Born in a family of entertainers – her mother and father were nomadic performers for the Vietnamese Opera Troupe. While, her sisters became celebrated Vietnamese pop singers in Vietnam & Little Saigon, CA. Julie was raised in Boston, MA & Orange County, CA with a degree in Finance followed by a promising career in the hedge fund industry. However, she could not escape her inherited genes for the performing arts. Consequently, she confronted that calling and landed her first role in a holiday musical for the Quincy Dinner Theatre in Quincy, MA. The show’s director & producer, George Stevens awarded her the “Best Newcomer Award” at the Cast & Crew’s Soiree. Additionally, her magnetic presence and energetic personality has earned her several unique opportunities such as: an on-camera host for OurStage.com, a guest spot on The Brotherhood, Episode 321, a starring role in the independent film Unanswered Calls produced by Parousian Pictures and the lead in Restless Soul by Lucid Films. Presently, she is a Meisner graduate from William Esper Studio in Midtown, Manhattan with David Newer, Ted Morin on Movement, and Nancy Mayans for Voice & Speech. With her continued driven enthusiasm, Julie is occupied with auditions during the day while sharpening her performing skills at night in the hustle and bustle of New York City. As a print model, Julie has worked with celebrated photographers like Russell Baer in LA and Robert Milazzo in NYC. Recently, she posed for Prevention magazine as a fitness guru, landed the cover of the coveted Reed & Barton’s Spring Collection catalog, and appeared in the latest New Balance Runners’ Campaign. As a writer, Julie has generated many intimate stories profiling the movers and shakers in the Asian community for AsianBoston Magazine; including a cover story on Frances Rivera of Channel 7 News and Dr. Michio Kaku, a renowned physicist. In her spare time, Julie runs along the Hudson River, bicycles around Central Park, and does downward dog and cat stretches to relax and stay agile in the fast paced show biz world. Fluent in English, Vietnamese, and un poquito Español; She enjoys traveling and learning from other countries and cultures. Julie has traveled around the US, Mexico, China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, England, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Jamaica, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. Julie is also an avid windsurfer, skier, and scuba diver. In addition, she is a certified Vinyasa Yoga Instructor, enjoys raw food and would jump out of a plane again any day of the week. |
